Please see video on how to do Weight and Price Embedded.

 Embedded Barcodes

Embedded Barcodes are used in an environment where one item can have many different Selling Prices (Butchery – Weight embedded). (Usually defined by weight or size.) While Positive does not print these types of Barcodes, it allows for the use of Embedded Barcodes.

Embedded Barcodes have a specific format. Once you define the format of the Barcode in the Embedded Barcode Screen, Positive will use the Barcode correctly.

It is important to understand, that when using Price Embedded Barcodes, your Gross Profit will be incorrect. This is due to the fact that each item will be sold as a quantity of 1 and the Selling Price will be adjusted. There is no accurate way to get a correct GP when using Price Embedded Barcodes.

On the Stock Manager screen, click the "Embedded" button.

  1. "Prefix:" These are the first few Constant characters of the Barcode. The prefix is generally 2 characters and is in the range of 20 and 29.
  2. "Stock Length:" This is the length of the actual Stockcode in characters. Note that these Stockcodes need to be created.
  3. "Check Digit:" This is the length of the Check Digit(s). This is a character which is generated by the Barcode Printer. This value is almost always "1".
  4. "Value Length:" This is the length of the Price or Weight in characters. (This value includes the decimal spaces for the next line.)
  5. "Decimal Places:" This value indicates how many decimal places the "Value Length" has. (e.g. The price of the item can be 999.99)

An example of a Price Embedded Barcode is: 215555112999
